Sleep Of The Golem

from 415.00

Legend tells us the body of the Golem rests in the attic of the 13th century Alteneuschul synagogue in Prague. Hanging below the Golem, the synagogue’s chandelier brings to mind the Yiddish curse:  May you be like a chandelier:  hanging by day and burning by night.   The words in the border are a litany of curses, the inverse of the border of blessings one sees on a ketubah (marriage contract).
